Rapid Prototypes
Summary
During the first semester of FIEA, all students participate in four rounds of two week prototypes, with a goal of learning how to determine the potential fun of a game idea very quickly. For a fifth round, each team picked a game from an earlier round to give it an extra two weeks of polish. In total, 40 prototypes were created by groups of 5 to 6 people, and 10 of those received extra polish.

Round 2 and Polish: Inkman
Round Focus: Story
Platform: PC (XNA in C#)
Inkman became a significant enough project to deserve its own page. Look here for information.
Round 3: Skull Cove
Round Focus: Emergent gameplay
Platform: iPhone
The player controls a pirate ship and must protect Skull Cove from attackers. However, the only way to move the ship is by controlling the direction of the wind and water currents, which also affect the enemies. Certain combinations of wind and current directions generate storms that damage ships and slow movement.
Round 4: Pulp Kids
Round Focus: Existing intellectual property and Indirect control
Platform: PC (Unity3D)
A parody of the movie Pulp Fiction, set on a playground. The player controls Vincent and Jules as they perform tasks for Marsellus, such as retrieving his lunchbox and saving Mia after she overdosed on sugar.
